The Insights tab of a practice space shows how each student's practice is going: who is practicing, who is improving and where someone gets stuck. Click a student for the AI's summary, their progress per topic and every practice session. That tells you who could use some extra attention in class.
Students work through AI practice questions at their own pace, often at home, so without this overview you'd see little of what they're doing.
See how the class is doing
Open the practice space and go to Insights. Under Practice sessions you'll find every student who has answered at least one question:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Student name | Their name and email address |
| Progression | Whether they now score better than when they started |
| Time spent | How long they've practiced, and in how many sessions |
| Last practiced | When they last answered a question |
| Questions answered | How many questions they've answered |
If your students are in groups, use the filter icon to show one group. Everything updates while you watch.
Is a student improving?
The progress bar compares how a student started with how they're scoring now:
- With fewer than 3 answers, the bar is empty.
- With 3 to 11 answers, you'll see a single gray dot at their average score.
- From 12 answers, Examplary compares the Baseline (their first 6 answers) with their Recent answers (the last 7). A green bar to the right means they're improving, a red bar to the left means they're slipping. If the difference is under 10 percentage points, you'll see a blue dot.
The dotted line is the class average. Hover over the bar to see the percentages.
Look at one student
Click a student. You'll see:
- Progress summary, Strengths and Improvement points: what the AI notices about how the student practices, written for you. This appears after 3 answers.
- Progress per topic: how many questions they got right per topic, with their latest results as dots. Green is correct, blue is partially correct, red is incorrect and gray is skipped.
- Practice sessions: every session with its date, length and score. Open a session to see each question, with the student's answer and the feedback they got.
All students takes you back to the overview. If the AI's feedback on a question is wrong, choose Report AI response.
When has a student mastered a topic?
When a student has mastered a topic, it gets a check mark. By default, that's when they scored at least 80% of the points on their last 10 questions about the topic, and practiced it on at least 2 different days. You can change those thresholds in the practice space settings, on the Progression tab.
The student then sees Proficiency reached. If their score drops again, the check mark goes away, but the date they first mastered the topic is kept.
What students see
Students only see their own progress: the AI's feedback, how many questions they got right per topic, and which topics they've mastered. They see nothing about other students, no class average and not your summary.
On the Progression tab of the settings, you decide whether students see their progress per topic (Show progress per topic) and whether they get the check mark (Show 'proficient' badge for topics). On Insights, you always see everything.
Good to know
- Questions answered and the counts per topic cover a student's last 100 answers.
- Time spent counts each session from its start to the last answer.
- You can't change points or feedback in a practice space. For grades, use a test.
- The insights can't be exported.
Troubleshooting
Why isn't a student in the list? They haven't answered a question yet.
Why is the progress bar empty? The student has answered fewer than 3 questions.
It says "No feedback available yet." The summary appears after 3 answers.
