Turning a test into a practice space

Last updated on

You can turn a test into a practice space in Examplary with a few clicks: choose Create practice space in the test's menu in your list. The practice space gets the test's name, subject, student level and source materials. Students can then prepare for the test, or keep practicing afterwards with what didn't go well.

If you've made a test, most of the work is already done: your students can use the same material for AI practice questions, with questions the practice space writes itself.

Available plans

On Basic you can create one practice space. On Teacher and Organization, you can create as many as you like.

Create a practice space from your test

  1. Go to your list of tests. Right-click the test, or click its three dots, and choose Create practice space.
  2. The New practice space window opens, already filled in with the test's name, subject, student level and source materials. Change anything you like.
  3. Click Create space.

From there it works like any other practice space. Examplary picks out the topics and writes example questions, and you share the space with your students. See Setting up your first practice space.

What carries over from the test

Carries overDoesn't carry over
The name, subject and student levelThe test's questions. The practice space keeps writing new questions of its own.
The source materialsThe test's language. The practice space uses the language you use Examplary in.
Your AI instructions, feedback instructions and rubrics
Who has access, and the results

If your test is in another language, such as French, change the practice space's language under Settings → General settings → Language. Then click Regenerate topics under Mastery topics, because the topics don't change along with it.

After you've created it

The practice space is separate from the test. If you edit or delete the test, nothing changes in the practice space. They do share their source materials: the test and the practice space use the same material.

Only invite the students who need it

If you've already graded the test, look at Suggested groups under Statistics (on Teacher and Organization). Then invite only the students who still need to practice.

Troubleshooting

Where is Create practice space? In the menu of a test in your list, not inside the test itself.

Why is the practice space in the wrong language? It uses the language you use Examplary in. Change the Language under Settings → General settings and click Regenerate topics. Examplary then writes new questions, which takes a few minutes.
