Setting up your first practice space

Last updated on

You set up your first practice space in Examplary with Create new → Practice space. Add your teaching materials, and Examplary picks out the topics and writes questions that adapt to what each student already knows, with feedback on every answer. You check the topics and share the space with your class.

A practice space is where your students get AI practice questions on your own material. They practice at their own pace, and you set the space up once and follow how it's going from there.

Available plans

On Basic you can create one practice space. On Teacher and Organization, you can create as many as you like.

Create a practice space

  1. Click Create new and choose Practice space.
  2. Enter the Practice space name and choose the Student level and Subject.
  3. Under Source materials, add your teaching materials. You need at least one source.
  4. Click Create space.

Check the topics

Examplary picks out the main topics in your source materials straight away, usually four to eight. You'll find them under Mastery topics. Students see their progress per topic, in this order.

  • Click a topic to rename it.
  • Drag the topics into the order you want.
  • Remove a topic with its cross. To add one, type it in the Add a new topic... field and press Enter.
Regenerating replaces all your topics

Regenerate topics replaces every topic at once, without asking first. That includes topics you've edited yourself.

Look at the example questions

After a few minutes, the Example questions appear on the right: ten of the best questions Examplary has written. Every student gets different questions, matched to their level, so this is just a sample. Use the thumbs to Upvote or Downvote a question. Students get upvoted questions sooner and downvoted ones later.

You can't edit the questions yourself. You steer them with the topics and with Additional AI instructions, for example "Use examples from the United States".

To try the practice space yourself, click the eye (Preview). You'll see what a student sees. Anything you answer there can show up in your insights too.

Share the practice space with your students

Click Share. A new practice space is set to Only invited users, so choose how your students get in:

  • Under Student access, choose Anyone with the link and share the link, for example in your learning platform.
  • Or type the name of a student or group in Search or enter email..., leave the role on Participant and click Invite.

When a student opens the link, they enter their email address and get a code to sign in. In the practice space, they click Start practicing. After seven questions, they choose whether to keep going or look at their progress.
