Your question bank is where you save good questions to use again, next year or in a retake. Save a question from its menu with Add to question bank, and bring it back into any test with Insert from question bank. The question bank is personal: your colleagues don't see it.
The question can be one you wrote yourself or one Examplary wrote for you. You can also start from the AI test generator and keep the best questions it comes up with.
The question bank is available on every plan: Basic, Teacher and Organization.
Who sees your question bank?
Your question bank is yours. Colleagues don't see your questions, and you don't see theirs. Students never see the question bank.
The bank holds a copy. If you change the question in your test later, the question in the bank stays as it was. When you put a question from the bank into a test, that test gets a copy of its own. Changes never travel from the bank to your tests by themselves, or the other way around.
Save a question to your question bank
- Open the test and click the question's menu, or right-click the question.
- Choose Add to question bank. You'll see Added to question bank.
The whole question comes along: its text, settings, rubric, model answer and labels. Examplary also stores the test's subject, student level and language with it, so you can filter on those later.
Give your questions labels for a topic or competency, under Labels in the question's settings. You can filter on them in the question bank.
Search your question bank
Click Questions bank in the menu on the left, or press G and then Q. Your questions appear as tiles showing their question type, subject and student level, with the newest at the top. Click a tile to see the whole question.
With Filter, you can narrow the list by Labels, Question type, Language, Subject and Student level. You only see the filters your questions have a value for. The search bar at the top searches your whole workspace, so your tests and practice spaces too.
You can't edit a question in the question bank itself. Put it in a test and change it there.
Add a question from the bank to a test
From the test:
- Below the questions, under Add question, click Insert from question bank.
- Find the question and click Select.
The question is added at the end of the test. Questions from the bank that are already in the test don't show up in the list.
From the question bank:
- Right-click a question, or click its three dots, and choose Use in test.
- Pick one of the six tests you edited most recently, or choose Create new test and give the test a name.
You'll see Question added to the test and land straight in the test.
A test you create this way is set to English and has no subject or student level yet. If you teach in another language, set it under Settings → General settings, or the AI writes its feedback in English.
Remove a question from your question bank
In the question bank, right-click the question and choose Delete. The question only disappears from your bank. Tests where you already used it keep their own copy. You can't restore a question you deleted from the bank yourself.
Question bank and library
The menu also has Library. That's separate from your question bank and still in development.
Troubleshooting
I don't see Add to question bank. The question is already in your question bank, or came from it. A question like that can't be saved again, even after you've changed it. The same goes for a copy you make of it with Duplicate. It's also not available for an Introduction or Outro.
Add to question bank is grayed out. The question has no title yet. Give it a title first.
A colleague can't see my questions. The question bank is personal. To share questions, share the test they're in. Working on tests with colleagues explains how.
A question is missing from the list in Insert from question bank. It's already in this test, or its question type is turned off in your workspace.
