Voice recorder
Ask the student to record a spoken answer.
The voice recorder question type asks students to answer by speaking: they record their response directly in the browser. It brings oral skills into written tests — pronunciation, fluency, and the ability to explain something out loud.
When to use it
Language learning: pronunciation practice, reading aloud, spoken responses.
Oral explanations: "Explain in your own words how photosynthesis works."
Presentations and reflections where hearing the student matters.
How it works for students
The student clicks record, speaks their answer, and can listen back before submitting. You set a maximum recording length appropriate to the task — 60–120 seconds suits short spoken answers, up to 300 seconds for longer oral explanations. Students need a device with a microphone. Plan for roughly 5 minutes per question.
Grading
The recording is transcribed and graded by AI against your scoring criteria, with your review. You can also listen to the original recording while grading — useful when pronunciation or delivery is part of the assessment.
