Grading your first test in Examplary

Last updated on

You grade your first test in Examplary on the Grade test tab. Closed questions are already graded by then, and for open questions the AI suggests a score and feedback for every answer. You review those suggestions, change what you disagree with and publish the results to your class.

Open the answers

Open the test and go to Grade test. A dot on the tab means answers are waiting for you; hover over it to see how many. You start in the Questions view, where you grade one question for the whole class, so you apply the same standard to every student.

Review a suggestion from the AI

This is how AI grading works in Examplary: the AI makes a suggestion, and you decide.

  1. Click Review next to a question.
  2. Click an answer. The Scoring criteria on the right show the level the AI suggests for each criterion. Hover over the percentage to read its reasoning.
  3. If it's right, click Accept suggestion. If it isn't, pick another level or type the number of points yourself.
  4. Edit the feedback for the student if you want to.

Once you've looked at every answer to a question, you can accept the rest in one go from the three-dot menu → Accept all suggestions.

Does the AI keep getting it wrong the same way?

Then change the rubric with Edit rubric. The AI makes new suggestions for the answers you haven't graded yourself yet, and everything you've already graded stays as it is.

Publish the results

When everything is graded, you'll see You've reviewed everything! Share the results with your students. at the top. Click Publish results, then Publish. Students with an account get an email and can see their points, feedback and final result online.

If students took the test without an account, link their result to their account first with Link to student account. Otherwise they won't get an email.

By default, students see their points. If you'd rather give a grade, such as a number from 1 to 10, set up the grade calculation before you publish. See Setting up grade calculation.
