From student to school leadership

What Examplary does for the student, the teacher, the department and the school, following one test in a fourth-year geography class.

  1. StudentFrom first year to exam year

Practice at their own level, with feedback on every answer

Students practice in class, at home or when a lesson is canceled, with questions that fit what they can already do. After every answer they see right away what's right, what's still missing and how to improve.

    • Practice questions from your own teaching materials
    • Feedback with a concrete tip on every answer
    • Progress per topic, for student and teacher

    +5 months

of extra progress in a school year for secondary students who get good feedback.

Education Endowment Foundation, Teaching and Learning Toolkit
  2. TeacherIn every class

Tests in minutes, grading with the groundwork done

Upload a chapter and Examplary drafts a test, with scoring criteria for every question. After the test, the AI suggests points and feedback for every answer, scanned paper tests included. You approve or adjust, and then see what the class still needs.

    • Tests and practice material from your own teaching materials
    • Grading explained per criterion, digital or on paper
    • See who still needs help with each topic
“If I make a test entirely myself, it normally takes me an hour and a half. With Examplary I'm done in about twenty minutes.”
Johan van der GaagGeography teacher, Dalton Den Haag
  3. DepartmentFor subject departments

    Creating and grading tests together

Colleagues work on the same test at the same time and build a shared library of tests, questions and scoring criteria. While grading, you leave a comment on an answer and your colleague replies straight away.

    • Work on one test with colleagues at the same time
    • Comments on answers, for colleagues or for the student
    • The same criteria for the whole department
“After an exam week, three colleagues and I compared our grading with the AI's. It didn't seem to differ from us any more than we differed from each other.”
Johan van der GaagGeography teacher, Dalton Den Haag
  4. SchoolFor leadership, IT and privacy

Fits your school, with data in the EU

Students, teachers and classes sync from Somtoday or Magister, sign-in works with Entree Federatie or your own single sign-on, and if your school uses Magister, grades go straight to its gradebook. Data stays in the EU, and a teacher always has the final say.

    • Integrations with Somtoday, Magister, Schoolyear, Woots and Ans
    • Roles, permissions and an audit log
    • GDPR and AI Act compliant, with a data processing agreement
“At first I thought: a fun little tool on the side. Now I see it can become a permanent fixture in how we teach.”
Paul van SoestPrincipal, De Goudse Waarden

Works in every department

Every subject is assessed in its own way. Examplary has question types to match, from Dutch sentence analysis to step-by-step math.

Sentence analysis

Grammar the way it's taught

Students split a Dutch sentence into its parts, label each one and mark the finite verb. Then they see right away whether it's right, with the correct answer next to it.

≈ 2.3FTE of time back
  • 8 hours a week is the average for Dutch secondary teachers creating, delivering, grading and analyzing tests (AOb, Teachers' Time Use, 2017).
  • Based on 40 teaching weeks a year and 1 FTE = 1,659 hours (Dutch secondary education collective agreement).
  • The saving is an assumption. For comparison: Johan at Dalton Den Haag now creates a test in twenty minutes instead of an hour and a half.

Questions from schools

Can't find your question? Email us at hi@examplary.ai.

  • The AI suggests a grade for every answer, explaining each criterion and how confident it is. The teacher decides. At Dalton Den Haag, four teachers compared their average scores with the AI's after an exam week: the difference seemed no bigger than between the teachers themselves. On the Mohler dataset, Examplary grades 38% more consistently than teachers do with each other.

  • Yes, as long as a teacher checks the grading and sets the grade. The AI Act treats AI that evaluates learning outcomes as high-risk, with requirements such as human oversight and explainability. Examplary is built for that: no grade is final without a teacher. Set out these arrangements in your assessment policy.

  • Yes. You create the test in Examplary and run it on paper, digitally in Schoolyear, Muute or Safe Exam Browser, or export it to Woots or Ans. The teacher reviews every answer and sets the grade.

  • Yes. Through Edu-V, students, teachers and classes sync from Somtoday or Magister, and if your school uses Magister, grades go to the gradebook. Sign-in works with Entree Federatie. Tests export to Woots or Ans, or as QTI to any other platform that supports the standard.

  • Data is stored encrypted in Frankfurt, AI processing stays in the EU by default, and nothing is used to train models. Your school signs a data processing agreement with us. Under the AI Act, Examplary is classified as a high-risk system, with public documentation and a teacher who always decides.

  • Examplary isn't an AI detector: those are too unreliable to build on. It does help with assessment where you see how a student thinks: plenty of practice with instant feedback, open questions in class, and tests on paper or in a secure browser.

  • Schools use an organization license, priced per teacher. It includes single sign-on, the integrations and shared folders, among other things. Teachers can also start on their own for free first. The pricing page shows what's included, and in a demo we'll work out the numbers for your school.
