Connecting your learning platform to Examplary

Last updated on

You can put an Examplary test or practice space in any learning platform (LMS) with a link: set access to Anyone with the link and paste it into a module or assignment. Canvas also connects through an LTI app. If your school uses Moodle, Brightspace, itslearning or Blackboard, get in touch with us about an LTI 1.3 integration.

That way students find their work where they always look, and you use Examplary to create, deliver and grade tests with AI.

This works in any LMS, without an integration:

  1. Set access to Anyone with the link. For a test, go to Share → Manage access..., for a practice space, click Share. Under Student access, choose Anyone with the link.
  2. Copy the link.
  3. Add the link to your LMS, for example as part of a module or in an assignment.

Students then open the test from the LMS. If they sign in to Examplary with their school account, for example through Entree Federatie or Microsoft, their results are saved under their name. See Setting up single sign-on.

Connect Examplary to Canvas

Canvas connects through an LTI app that your school installs in Canvas. Integrating with Canvas LMS explains how. After that, teachers pick an Examplary test in Canvas as part of a module or assignment, and students open it from Canvas.

Good to know:

  • When you pick a test in Canvas, Examplary sets its access to Anyone with the link.
  • To pick a test in Canvas, you also need to be signed in to Examplary.
  • Students don't sign in to Examplary through Canvas. Without an account, they enter their name.
  • Grades don't go back to Canvas. You publish the results in Examplary.

Moodle, Brightspace, itslearning and Blackboard

For these platforms, Examplary works with LTI 1.3, the standard for adding external tools to an LMS. We switch that integration on for your school on request. Email hi@examplary.ai with the platform you use, and we'll talk through what's possible for you.

What doesn't go through your LMS

  • Grades. Results stay in Examplary. You publish them there for your students, or download them with Download spreadsheet.
  • Students and classes. You add those to Examplary with an import or through single sign-on. See Importing users & groups.

Troubleshooting

Students have to enter their name. They aren't signed in to Examplary. Use single sign-on, or invite your class instead of sharing a link.

I can't see the results in my LMS. They stay in Examplary. Reviewing answers and publishing results explains how to review and publish them.
